Seagulls Take Tight Tangle
|
The San Francisco Seagulls found a way to sneak past the Montreal Habitants, 4-3, in 10 innings. San Francisco pitcher Pete Ragsdale, for one, had a standout performance. San Francisco reliever Dan Wood got the win, raising his record to 5-3. Hervé Lelièvre was tagged with the loss. Archie Sereni was credited with the save for San Francisco, his 15th of the season.
San Francisco needed the clutch hitting of Jose Sosa to seal the deal. The right fielder swatted a solo home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Seagulls on top, 4-3. For the game, Sosa had 1 home run and 1 single in 6 at-bats.
"If you ever get this game figured out," said Montreal manager Michel Alexandre Cauchon, "let me know."
The slumping Habitants have lost 6 straight.
