Fontanez Stars in 2-1 Los Angeles Win

The Los Angeles Blockbusters downed the Philadelphia Quakers, 2-1, at Blockbuster Stadium. Stellar pitching by Dario Fontanez had a lot to do with it. The right-hander, who is tied for 10th in the NBL with a 6.1 K/9 rate, handcuffed his opponent all game. The Quakers, now 38-27, have lost 4 in a row.
Fontanez, who dominated for Los Angeles, earned the victory to move to 5-4. He was in control the whole game, scattering 6 hits over 9 innings, while striking out 5. Philadelphia batters could never bunch up enough hits to produce a rally.
Fontanez attributed the win to "concerted effort and focus."
