Montreal starter Oscar Rodela kept the Detroit hitters in check, helping his team cruise to a win, 11-1. The win lifts Montreal to a record of 3-4.

David Layman had a big 3-run home run for the Habitants in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Montreal leading 3-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he sized up a splitter from Juan Rodriguez, who finished 5th in the ABL in strikeouts with 166 in 1975, and punished it. The result was his 1st home run of the season, which put the Habitants on top, 6-0.

Detroit manager Kurt Peterson called the blowout loss "not my idea of a good time."
