The Twin Cities Northmen eked out a 1-0 win versus the Houston Drillers at Sam Houston Field. Nobody did more than pitcher Gary Forgette. He was terrific. Twin Cities reliever Paul Whitaker picked up the win, raising his record to 3-3. Rick McStay was tagged with the loss. The second-place Drillers now sit at 40-26.

Twin Cities used a timely hit from 26-year old second baseman Steve Pavey to get the win. The second baseman delivered a run-scoring triple in the top of the 11th inning to put the Northmen on top, 1-0. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was huge.

"A lot to like, just frustrated that we came up short," said Houston manager Tom Harrington.
