Late Rally by Dairymen Secures 5-3 Win
|
Though the conditions were not ideal, the Milwaukee Dairymen and St. Louis Explorers came back from a rain delay to finish their game.
Milwaukee beat St. Louis on the strength of starting pitcher Chris Davalos's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a win, 5-3. Milwaukee reliever Bob Brion snagged the win, upping his record to 1-0. Jorge Gonzalez shouldered the loss.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Roberto Matallana? The 23-year old right fielder Matallana stroked a 2-run double in the top of the eighth inning to put Milwaukee up, 4-3. For the game, he was 2 for 4, including 1 double and 1 single.
"Nice to see our side come away with the win," Matallana said after the game.
After today's action, Milwaukee sits at 31-35, while St. Louis falls to 38-28.
