Drooping Dairymen Lose 6th Straight
|
Milwaukee got a terrific performance from pitcher Chris Davalos, but it wasn't enough to beat the St. Louis Explorers. St. Louis won the Milwaukee Municipal Stadium contest, 5-2. Davalos threw 8.0 innings of 5-hit ball for the losing team. The win went to Jim Hopkins in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Chris Davalos took the loss. Bernie Tate got the save, the 16th for him this season.
St. Louis used the timely hitting of Bernie Tudor to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Explorers on top, 4-2. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
Said losing manager Brandon Dudley: "It's very easy to sit in an ivory tower and critique the pitching, but the bottom line is we need to score runs."
The slumping Dairymen have dropped 6 in a row.
