Bobcats Squeeze By Philadelphia, 5-4
|
The Cleveland Bobcats weathered an outstanding game by Philadelphia first baseman Alejandro Rebolledo to topple the Quakers, 5-4. Rebolledo went 4-4 with a double, 3 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 times. The winner was Myron Baird, who threw 108 pitches over 8 innings. The right-hander was charged with 4 runs on 10 hits. Tim Fried wrapped it up, recording his 8th save.
Tom Crowell hit a 3-run home run off Bill Smith in the bottom of the eighth, which put the Bobcats ahead, 5-4. In addition to the homer, Crowell had 1 double, while going 2 for 4.
"We ground out the win," said Crowell. "That's all that matters."
The 5th-place Bobcats are now 30-36, the Quakers 39-26.
