Quakers Victors, 9-4, at Los Angeles
|
The Philadelphia Quakers defeated the Los Angeles Blockbusters, 9-4, at Blockbuster Stadium. Philadelphia was led by 25-year old right fielder Al Proctor, who was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 3 and driving in 2. Philadelphia pitcher Art Wohlt got the win, upping his record to 2-4. Rick McStay got the loss. Philadelphia goes to 25-42, Los Angeles to 27-41.
Philadelphia won the game in part because of Roger Turner. The third baseman ripped a 2-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Quakers ahead, 3-0. For the game, Turner had 1 double and 1 home run in 5 at-bats.
"Getting a lot of baserunners and getting some timely hits, it's a good combination," said Turner.
