Empires Prevail, 3-1, Over San Francisco
|
Queens Field was the site of a tense game between the San Francisco Seagulls and New York Empires.
New York picked up a win at Queens Field, bumping off the San Francisco Seagulls, 3-1. Pitcher Larry Stanford was a major reason the Empires emerged victorious. Tom Duncan earned the save for New York, his 11th of the year.
Al Castro was 1-3 with a double for New York. The 23-year old right fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With one out and a runner on 3rd, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Tim Stambaugh. It was his 13th RBI of the season.
"Larry is a gamer," said New York manager Jose Placeholder.
The win lifted the New York record to 36-30.
