Cleveland Defeated by Washington, 6-4
|
Despite a great performance by Cleveland right fielder Alan Romano, the Washington Eagles defeated the Bobcats by the score of 6-4 at Monument Field. Romano was 3-4 with 2 doubles and a walk. Bill John got the win, improving to 3-8. He pitched 7.2 innings, giving up 13 hits and 4 runs, while striking out 5 and walking 2. By defeating Cleveland, the 6th-place Eagles improved to 29-38.
Washington took advantage of an error in the bottom of the sixth inning. The game was tied, 4-4, when Bill John hit a 2-run single that was misplayed. It put the Eagles in front, 6-4.
"I found a nice groove out there," said John.
