Burros Pull Out Late-Game Win, 2-1
|
It was pandemonium at Gates Crescent Park after an exciting walk-off win.
The Denver Burros got a marvelous performance from pitcher Bruce Cardenas. The right-hander kept the Cincinnati offense from ever getting much traction. The result was an impressive 2-1 Denver victory at Gates Crescent Park. Denver has an impressive 44-22 record.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Denver pinch hitter David Smith, facing Brian Alfieri, had a run-scoring walk. It gave the Burros the 2-1 win.
"It'd be nice to win by four or five runs," Smith said, "instead of holding our breath the whole game."
