Blockbusters Grind Out 2-0 Win
|
Ralph Weintraub pitched a gem to lead Los Angeles to victory over the Denver Burros, 2-0. Weintraub, now 2-0, was the winner. In 8.1 innings, he gave up 9 hits, while striking out 5, walking 5, and allowing no runs. Tom Benson earned the save, his 1st.
Los Angeles second baseman Ken Frederick delivered a solo home run in the bottom of the third. Overall, he went 3 for 4, picking up 1 home run, 1 single, and 1 double. He scored 1 run and knocked in 1.
"If I go out there and help the team win, that's all you can do," said Weintraub.
The win puts Los Angeles at 5-3.
