New York took on Los Angeles in front of a lively crowd.

The 9-2 New York win over Los Angeles was due in large part to Buck DeFalco. The Empires left fielder was 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Pete Ragsdale, the winner, is now 5-3. He struck out 5 and walked 3 over 7 innings, while allowing 2 runs on 7 hits.

New York pitcher Pete Ragsdale contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the sixth. With two down, he hit a slider to right field for a 2-run single. It was his 8th hit of the season and put the Empires ahead, 5-1.

"They took it to us," said Los Angeles manager Kurt Peterson.

With the win, the Empires sit at 33-33.
