|
The Toronto Hurons picked up a win at Queens Field, topping the New York Empires, 4-0. On the mound for Toronto was left-hander Dan Crumm. He played a principal role in the triumph. Crumm yielded no runs over 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 2, and struck out 3. His record improves to 1-0. New York drops to 2-5.
The game was scoreless in the top of the fourth, when Crumm reached on an error by the 1B, driving in 1 run to put his team in front, 1-0. All told, Crumm threw 7.0 innings of shutout ball.
"The key at this level is throwing strike one," said Crumm. "Successful pitchers do it."
