Explorers Subdue San Diego, 4-2
|
St. Louis picked up a win at Corps of Discovery Stadium, bumping off the San Diego Captains, 4-2. Pitcher Harlan Estes was a major reason the Explorers emerged victorious. San Diego falls to 4-4.
The Explorers got a big at-bat from third baseman John Darnell. For the game, Darnell was 1 for 4 with a double. In the bottom of the sixth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 1st double of the season gave St. Louis a 3-2 lead.
"I liked his command," said St. Louis manager Ray Fleetwood. "Harlan was throwing strikes."
