Captains Rally Late to Clip New York
|
In a low-scoring game between San Diego and New York, John Espersen was fantastic. The Captains right-hander, who is tied for 3rd in the NBL in strikeouts with 81, helped his team beat the Knickerbockers, 2-1, in 10 innings. The 4th-place Knickerbockers have lost 4 consecutive games.
The Captains got a clutch hit from right fielder Bob Anderson. In the bottom of the tenth, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Captains.
Anderson called the win a testament to his team's "grit."
