The Atlanta Generals beat the Toronto Hurons, 6-2. Atlanta pitcher and Jasonville, Indiana, native Gary Ovitt led the way. Ovitt, now 5-7, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 2, walking 2, and allowing 1 run. With the win over Toronto, the Generals improved to 27-40.
Atlanta used a well-timed hit by Ron Bullins to capture the win. The catcher socked a 2-run double in the top of the fourth inning to put the Generals ahead, 2-1. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"When you are able to locate the ball, good things are going to happen," said Ovitt.
