The game between New York and Cincinnati is in the books, despite a little rain.

The New York Knickerbockers overcame a pretty good performance by Cincinnati third baseman Mike Clement, beating the Packers, 8-6, at Roman Arena. Clement was 2-4 with 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. The loss drops Cincinnati to 4-3.

Steve Wells went 2-4 with 2 singles and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for New York. The fan favorite had a key at-bat in the top of the fifth. With no one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 3-3 tie with a run-scoring walk off Armando Estrada. It was his 3rd walk of the season.

"Win or lose, we always try to grind it out and stay even-keeled," Wells said in reaction to the win.
