Quakers Victors, 7-3, at Cincinnati
|
In the 7-3 Philadelphia win over Cincinnati, the impact of Jeff Murchison was substantial. Murchison, who led the NBL in hits with 216 in 1970, went 2-4 with a home run, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Darrell Klug picked up his 13th save of the season. With the win, Philadelphia raised its record to 38-31.
It could have been a different outcome for Philadelphia, had it not been for Ted Schlener, the former first round draft pick . Schlener contributed a 2-run triple in the top of the fourth inning to put Philadelphia up, 3-0.
"We did the things that it takes to win a game," said Murchison.
