Kansas City got a big-time effort from pitcher Waldo Hardaway, but it wasn't enough to keep the St. Louis Explorers from winning the game, 5-4. Hardaway threw 8.0 innings of 5-hit ball for the losing team. Robbie Goolsby came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2 innings. His record now stands at 1-3. With the win, the Explorers have a record of 34-36.

St. Louis got a knockout punch from Bernie Tudor. The third baseman hammered a solo home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It might've been his only hit, but it decided the outcome.
