Win Streak Now at 6 for Industrials
|
The Pittsburgh Industrials earned a close win over the Milwaukee Dairymen, thanks in part to Jerry Zaruba. The Pittsburgh right-hander, who finished 5th in the NBL in wins with 16 last year, played a key role in the 3-1 victory. Gene Steinhauer recorded the save for Pittsburgh, his 1st of the season. This win makes it 6 in a row for Pittsburgh.
In the bottom of the fourth, Gary Tavares delivered a clutch hit. With two gone and runners on 1st and 3rd, the Pittsburgh catcher hit a run-scoring single, putting the Industrials in front, 3-1.
"I liked his command," said Pittsburgh manager Vincent Wicker. "Jerry was throwing strikes."
