Hawks Deal Emeralds 4-3 Loss
|
The Chicago Hawks defeated the Seattle Emeralds, 4-3, in 13 innings. Bobby Strange, who is tied for 10th in the ABL in triples with 3, played a big role. Strange slugged 2 home runs, while scoring 3 times and driving in 3 for the Hawks in the win. Chicago reliever Bill Hill picked up the win, raising his record to 1-0. Carroll Reynolds was tagged with the loss. Chicago has run its win streak to 5 straight.
Strange delivered in the clutch for Chicago. In the bottom of the 13th, he took a 1-2 changeup from Seattle pitcher Carroll Reynolds and parked it over the fence. The solo home run won it for Chicago.
"Good pitching, clutch hitting," said Chicago skipper Mike Flaherty. "I can't complain."
