Dairymen Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Traders, 5-4
|
Chicago left fielder Tim Rathbone had a good game, even if his team did not. The Traders dropped a 5-4 decision to Milwaukee at Union Field. Rathbone went 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk. The win was credited to Pete Costabile in relief. His record improves to 1-1. Gary Allen took the loss. The Dairymen raised their record to 35-35.
The game was at a stalemate until pinch hitter Randy Adams came to bat in the top of the eighth. Facing Chicago pitcher Gary Allen, he hit a 3-1 cutter for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Milwaukee on top, 5-4.
"Honestly, I'm not frustrated," said Chicago manager Larry Link. "The effort was great."
