Drillers Suffer 2-1 Home Loss
|
The San Francisco Seagulls wanted a good start from Tim Stambaugh -- and he delivered one. The result was a 2-1 San Francisco win over the Houston Drillers at Sam Houston Field. Dan Wood collected save number 1. With the loss, Houston is 5-3.
Bobby Tapia, who finished 4th in the ABL in on-base percentage with .393 in 1974, had a direct impact on the outcome. Tapia contributed a 2-run home run in the top of the third inning to put San Francisco up, 2-0.
"We had the right guys up at the right times," said Houston manager Tom Harrington. "We just didn't cash in."
