San Diego registered a win at San Diego Sporting Complex by beating the New York Knickerbockers, 8-4. Pitcher Dave Gilson was one reason why the Captains triumphed. The Captains lead the National Baseball League Western Division by 2½ games.

Troy Stallings, who is on pace for 102 RBI this season, came through for San Diego with a 3-run home run in the bottom of the fifth. The first baseman went 2 for 4 for the game, including 1 home run and 1 double. He scored 1 run and collected 3 RBI.

"We swung the bats good throughout the lineup," said San Diego skipper Joe Mack.
