Hawks Get Close Win Over Northmen, 6-5
|
Chicago registered a win at Hyde Park Stadium by beating the Twin Cities Northmen, 6-5. Pitcher Johnny Russell was one reason why the Hawks triumphed. Gary Ingram, now 10-8, was credited with the win in 1 innings of relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit, while striking out 0 and walking 0. The Hawks win now puts them at 33-38.
The decisive blow was delivered by Lute Eccles in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a 2-run double off former first round draft pick Ken Eldridge to win the game for Chicago. The home crowd went nuts.
"This place was jumping at the end," Eccles said.
