The St. Louis Explorers downed the Kansas City Bulls, 5-2. The hitting star was center fielder Ken Osterhage. Osterhage was 2 for 4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2 for the Explorers. St. Louis pitcher Marty Clark got the win, upping his record to 4-1. Dick Scorza got the loss. St. Louis is now 35-36, while Kansas City is 36-32.

St. Louis took a 5-2 lead on Osterhage's 7th home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which he hit off Pat Thornton in the bottom of the seventh, propelled St. Louis to the win.

"If I do my job, we've usually got a good chance to win the game," said Osterhage.
