Seagulls Make Empires 9-5 Losers
The San Francisco Seagulls defeated the New York Empires by the score of 9-5, with the biggest share of the credit going to third baseman Scott Wagner. Wagner went 2 for 4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3 for the Seagulls on the day. The winner was Randy Shipley in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Andy Humphrey took the loss. The win lifted the San Francisco record to 42-29.

Jose Sosa was 2-4 with 2 singles for San Francisco. The 31-year old right fielder had a key at-bat in the top of the sixth. With one out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he broke a 5-5 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Jose Antuna. It was his 27th RBI of the season.
