Northmen Bonk Hawks, 16-1
|
The Twin Cities Northmen cruised to a win over the Chicago Hawks, 16-1, at Twin Cities Stadium. Buddy Shingleton, who won the Rookie of the Year Award in 1963, led the way, going 2-for-4 for Twin Cities. The Twin Cities win streak is now 3 games.
Antonio Morales had a big 2-run double for the Northmen in the bottom of the first inning. With Twin Cities leading 1-0 and the bases loaded, he got a slider from Armando Estrada, who finished 4th in the ABL in saves with 22 in 1967, and swatted a double to left. It was his 12th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Northmen ahead, 3-0.
Chicago manager Mike Flaherty summed up his team's performance in one word: "Godawful."
