Bluebirds Beaten By Knickerbockers, 5-2
|
The skies opened up and the rain fell at Knickerbocker Stadium.
New York right-hander Dario Fontanez pitched his team to victory over the Brooklyn Bluebirds at Knickerbocker Stadium. The final score was 5-2. Fontanez yielded 2 runs over 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 2, and struck out 4. His record improves to 1-1.
Steve Wells took Brooklyn hurler Kevin Wade deep in the bottom of the seventh. His solo home run put the Knickerbockers on top, 3-2. In all, Wells had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
"Some wins are easy and some are difficult, but either way we come to the ballpark ready to work hard every day," Wells told the New York Observer.
