Empires Pull Even With 6-5 Victory
New York starter Elliot Diehl pitched well against the San Francisco Seagulls at Queens Field. The left-hander led his team to a win, 6-5. The winner in relief was Bryant Stark. He is now 3-2. The right-hander allowed 3 runs on 4 hits in 1.2 innings. The triumph puts New York at 35-35 for the season.

New York took a 6-5 lead on Randy Colbourne's 9th double of the season. The 2-run double, which Colbourne hit in the bottom of the eighth, left San Francisco pitcher Tim Stambaugh visibly frustrated.

"The key at this level is throwing strike one," said Diehl. "Successful pitchers do it."
