Montreal Gets Riveting Walk-Off Win
|
The Montreal Habitants defeated the Atlanta Generals, 6-5. Doing his part was first baseman Don Hill, who went 2 for 2 with 2 singles and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. The win puts the Habitants at 39-33, while the Generals drop to 28-43.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Montreal pinch hitter Daniel Chavez, facing Paul Hodges, had a run-scoring walk. It gave the Habitants the 6-5 win.
"This place sure got loud," said Michel Alexandre Cauchon, the Montreal manager.
