Burros Win at Milwaukee, 5-2
|
The Denver Burros picked up a win at Milwaukee Municipal Stadium, knocking off the Milwaukee Dairymen, 5-2. Starting pitcher Bruce Cardenas played a key role in the triumph. Cardenas, now 7-4, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 5, walking 1, and allowing 2 runs. Bob Langham was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 10 of 11 save opportunities.
Denver left fielder Leo Sentner contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the third. With two down, he hit a changeup to center field for a 2-run single. It was his 57th hit of the season and put the Burros ahead, 2-0.
"Nice to put this one in the win column," said Cardenas.
With the win, Denver upped its record to 39-31.
