Packers Score Late to Beat Quakers, 9-8
The Cincinnati Packers beat the Philadelphia Quakers, 9-8, in 13 innings. Cincinnati second baseman Dave Taranto, in particular, had a fine performance. He was 2-5 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. Reliever Steve Meckley picked up the win. His record improves to 2-0. Bill Kaiser, who is a three-time All-Star, took the loss. The win makes Cincinnati 34-37.

The decisive blow was delivered by Frank Bohley in the bottom of the 13th when he hit a solo home run off three-time All-Star Bill Kaiser to win the game for Cincinnati. The home crowd went nuts.

"This place was rocking at the end," Bohley said.
