Big Day for Cortez as Bulls Down Blockbusters, 7-3
The Kansas City Bulls topped the Los Angeles Blockbusters, 7-3, at Independence Field. Kansas City left fielder Emilio Cortez was a spark plug for the offense. He went 4 for 4 with a double and 3 singles, while scoring 3 times. The triumph puts Kansas City at 37-32 for the season.

Mario Alva had a big run-scoring double for the Bulls in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Kansas City leading 2-1 and a runner on 2nd, he got a sinker from Ralph Weintraub, who finished 3rd in the ABL in wins with 18 in 1971, and swatted a double to left. It was his 18th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Bulls ahead, 3-1.

"Nice to tuck this win away," said Cortez.
