Due in large part to right fielder Frank Warnock, the St. Louis Explorers sunk the Denver Burros, 4-2. Warnock was 2 for 4 with 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Robbie Goolsby notched his 4th save in 8 chances. The Explorers raised their record to 27-44.

With St. Louis trailing 2-1 in the top of the fifth, Warnock hit a curveball from Dick Scorza for a 2-run home run. It was his 14th home run of the season and put the Explorers ahead, 3-2.
