ABL's Top Player Named
Monday, September 15th, 1952
20-year-old Keith Owens sent shock waves through The American Circuits last week with an eye-popping performance that brought him the American Baseball League Player of the Week Award.
A newcomer to the league, Owens made the establishment sit up and take notice, punishing opposing pitchers with a .429 average, 12 hits in 28 at-bats, 2 home runs and 4 runs batted in.
Where the Houston Drillers right fielder goes from here, only the baseball gods know for sure, but Owens certainly made his mark last week.
For the year Owens has hit .223 with 11 home runs, 45 RBIs and scored 50 runs.
