St. Louis Rookie Hurls His Way to Award Wednesday, July 1st , 1964 Bruce Cardenas, the St. Louis starter, is the latest National Baseball League Rookie of the Month award winner. League officials made that announcement today. In June he started 5 games with a 3-1 record, a 3.51 ERA, and 20 strikeouts in 33.1 innings. On the season Cardenas has compiled a 6-4 mark with a 3.28 ERA in 13 starts. In pitching 90.2 innings he has 50 strikeouts and 36 walks while limiting the opposition to a .240 batting average. |
