Hall Torches Quakers for 5 Hits
Wednesday, October 6th, 1948
It was a good day at Union Field. The Chicago Traders whipped the Philadelphia Quakers 15-4 and catcher Billy Hall showed off a hot bat, going 5-for-6 at the plate.
"Some days, lady luck is on your side," Hall told BNN reporters after the game.
Traders manager Winston Tinker told the beat writers otherwise, calling the 27-year-old "focused and patient."
"It's not luck," he said. "He has a solid approach to hitting. Billy hits to all fields. The more solid at-bats you put together, the more success you're going to have."
Billy Hall hit a two-run single in the 1st, hit a three-run home run off Alex Geary in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, doubled in the 5th, tripled in the 7th and flied out in the 8th.
Hall is swinging at a .317 pace on the year with 18 home runs, 76 RBIs and 81 runs scored. He has played in 126 games.
