Traders Advance to World Series
Sunday, October 10th, 1948
The Chicago Traders are riding high after knocking off the Philadelphia Quakers in the League Championship Series.

"We're feeling confident now and that's half the battle," said Melbourne Trench, who was named series MVP. "You play confidently, you play well and it shows up with results like this."

Chicago won the final game by a 4-2 count at Penn's Landing Park and the series 4-1.

For the series, Trench hit .333 with a .417 on-base percentage. He had 3 home runs, drove in 10 RBI and scored 6 runs.

The Chicago Traders don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the San Francisco Seagulls - Toronto Hurons series. Toronto leads the series 3 games to 2. The World Series schedule will be announced after the League Championship Series finishes.
