Perry Pitches 1-0 Shutout
Saturday, May 16th , 1959
The Washington Rough Riders did little to support starter Bob Perry against the Cincinnati Packers, but it turned out he didn't need the help.
The right-hander spun a complete game shutout against the Packers, striking out 4 and surrendering 1 hit. The performance from Perry allowed Washington to escape with the 1-0 win despite an anemic offense.
"Nobody came to me and said 'Bob, we're gonna need you to win this one for us today,' but I could feel it," Perry told BNN reporters following the win. "I'm the guy that will step up for you when you need it."
