Veteran Simpson Hits Three Dingers
Tuesday, May 24th, 1949
John Simpson brutalized the Pittsburgh Industrials pitching staff, launching three home runs in today's 11-7 victory at Allegheny Field. The Cleveland Bobcats first baseman was red-hot, the ball just exploding off his bat all day.

"I don't try to hit homers," he said later. "I try to go out there and put a good swing on the ball, and sometimes it is going to go out of the park. I didn't try to hit the first one or the second one or the third one."

For the game, he went 3-for-3 with 8 RBIs and 3 runs scored.

"Too much John Simpson today," Industrials manager Vincent Wicker said. "That's my assessment of the game. That's what our problems boiled down to."

John Simpson hit a three-run home run off Len Sacks in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Len Sacks in the 3rd, hit a three-run home run off Len Sacks in the 4th, walked in the 5th and walked in the 8th.

In his season totals Simpson has 8 home runs and a .308 batting average.
