Cardenas Magic in 3-0 Shutout Friday, May 28th , 1965 Bruce Cardenas kept the Chicago Traders hitters from doing any damage at Castle Point Field today. Chicago could only muster 4 hits and take 2 walks against the right-handed Cardenas, who controlled them throughout the game as St. Louis took the contest, 3-0. Cardenas added 9 strikeouts in his complete-game effort. "I don't know if I was on or if they were off today," Cardenas told reporters after the shutout win. "But whatever it was, I hope it happens again next time." Cardenas has gone 5-1 this season with an ERA of 2.84 and 42 strikeouts in 63.1 innings pitched. Other clubs are hitting .219 against him.
