Cardenas Belts 3 HR for Eagles
Thursday, May 11th , 1967
Today was a special one for Tony Cardenas of the Washington Eagles as he slammed three home runs in the 14-8 win over the New York Knickerbockers.

"Lately, I've been uppercutting the ball too much," he said to sportswriters after the game. "I would hit it hard, but they just went sky high and stayed in the ballpark. No big long outs for me in this game. I leveled out my swing and connected on the sweet spot. I knew they were gone the minute I hit 'em."

The Washington right fielder collected 3 hits in 5 at-bats, drove in 7, and scored 3 runs in the contest at Monument Field.

Tony Cardenas hit a GRAND SLAM off Chris Hull in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Chris Hull in the 3rd, grounded out in the 4th, hit a two-run home run off Leon Hughes in the 6th and flied out in the 8th.

Cardenas is hitting .238 in 1967 with 9 RBIs and 4 home runs.
