Plumley Hits in 20 Straight Games Wednesday, May 11th , 1977 Jerry Plumley continued his streak at Wolverine Field, even as the ballgame did not go his way. The Detroit center fielder was 2-for-5 in today's contest and now has hit safely in his last 20 games. The Wolverines were not as fortunate, losing, 4-0, to the Los Angeles Pobladores. "Plumley was hitting everything we threw at him," said Los Angeles manager Alex Wobbema. "He is a tough out. Fortunately, things went our way in the ballgame and we came away with a win." Jerry Plumley singled in the 1st, grounded out in the 3rd, struck out in the 5th, singled in the 8th and grounded out in the 9th. So far this year in 35 games, Plumley is hitting .328 with 7 home runs, 24 RBIs and 22 runs scored. |
