Kansas City Shut Out, 2-0, By Bobcats, Scherf
Monday, May 27th , 1974
The Kansas City Bulls were almost helpless in their 2-0 loss to the Cleveland Bobcats and hurler Roger Scherf. Scherf kept the Bulls confused all game, spinning a 6-hit shutout.
"Tip your hat to Scherf," Kansas City manager DD Martin said in a postgame interview. "He kept us off balance all night."
The 28-year-old right-hander had 1 walk and 4 strikeouts in a strong performance.
"It just happened to be one of those games where even when I made mistakes, they either fouled them off or someone would make a fine defensive play," Scherf said. "It was just one of those games that things went my way."
This season, Scherf shows a 4-1 record in 9 games, 56.1 innings, 32 strikeouts, and a 5.43 ERA.
