Bad News for Cleveland, Downs Injured Saturday, July 7th , 1962 It took the Cleveland team doctor a while to realize it, but left fielder Jerry Downs won't simply play through torn ankle ligaments after he got hurt running the bases in today's Industrials-Bobcats game. At first, it looked like Downs might be back as early as tomorrow, but now the prognosis isn't quite so good; he's expected to miss at least 7 weeks. Downs is presently batting .333 with 2 home runs, 25 runs scored and 16 RBIs. His OBP is .404. |
