Purter Humbles Brooklyn, 1-0
Tuesday, June 18th , 1974
Willie Purter was in a mood to talk following the Denver Burros contest against the Brooklyn Bluebirds, expounding to BNN reporters on his pitching philosophy. He had good reason to be excitable, having tossed a complete game shutout of the Bluebirds, 1-0.
"There are three important elements in pitching success: location, location, and location," Purter said. "I was hitting my spots time and time again."
The right-hander blanked Brooklyn on a 4-hitter, allowing 2 walks and racking up 4 strikeouts.
On his stats sheet this season, Purter shows a 6-4 record, 13 starts, 92 innings, 43 strikeouts and a 4.50 ERA.
