Knickerbockers Win Tight National Baseball League Eastern Division Race
Sunday, September 29th , 1968
Their spot atop the National Baseball League Eastern Division may have been in jeopardy, but it is now confirmed - the New York Knickerbockers are division champions.
"It was a tough pennant race and I think it took a lot out of the guys emotionally," said starting pitcher Chris Hull, after hugging the neck of a jubilant teammate.
"I think now is a good time to relax and regroup for a little bit, until we have to start focusing again."
The task at hand will now be for the franchise to capture its 18th World Series. This was the 36th division title for the Knickerbockers.
