Great Day for Whitlock -- 5 Hits
Wednesday, August 2nd , 1972
It was almost a perfect day for Jeff Whitlock.

The Boston right fielder displayed a hot bat, enjoying an outstanding 5-hit day, but something was missing: The Terriers lost to the Montreal Habitants, 9-4. Whitlock told BNN reporters after the game that luck was "fickle."

Boston manager Jonah Placeholder told the beat writers otherwise.

"There was no luck today," the skipper said. "He got 5 hits because he has a solid approach to hitting and he put it all together, and we lost because the rest of us didn't put it together so well."

Jeff Whitlock singled in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 8th and doubled in the 9th.

This season, Whitlock is hitting .245 with 1 home run.
