Thurlow Hurls 4-0 Shutout
Tuesday, August 8th , 1972
Jim Thurlow was in a zone of his own most of the day, shutting out the San Diego Captains on 3 hits.

"He was too darn good for us today," grumbled San Diego manager Joe Mack after the 4-0 loss to the St. Louis Explorers.

Thurlow finished with 1 strikeout and 3 walks in a strong outing.

In the postgame press conference, St. Louis manager Ray Fleetwood said Thurlow "had good velocity, good movement and had those guys off balance. He just pitched his butt off."

On his stats sheet for the year Thurlow shows a 1-2 record, 4 starts, 36 innings, 6 strikeouts and a 2.75 ERA.
