Captains Out of Time, Out of Playoffs Thursday, September 16th , 1976 John Wyrick said it's going to be "an awfully long offseason" for the San Diego Captains after they missed the Major League Baseball playoffs. The club came close, but ultimately ran out of games to secure a postseason spot and were eliminated from contention today. The Captains have made the playoffs 5 times in their 11 years as a Major League Baseball franchise. This playoff miss is the club's 2nd in a row, with their last postseason appearance coming in 1974. San Diego last won the World Series in 1971. |
