Detroit Season Won't Continue in Playoffs Thursday, September 23rd , 1976 The Detroit Wolverines were mathematically eliminated from postseason contention today. Darrell Klug of the Wolverines said it's a tough way to finish out the season. "To be eliminated from playoff contention in the last few games, it's not easy," he said. The Wolverines had a streak of 9 straight playoff appearances before this year. In the 96 years they have been a Major League Baseball franchise, they have missed the playoffs 80 times. In the last 10 seasons, the Wolverines have only missed the playoffs once. Detroit last won the World Series in 1969. |
